Digital Transformation & Business Continuity: 2 Sides of the Same Coin

by | Apr 24, 2020

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a situation where most every business leader has renewed concern for how their organization would continue operations if some sort of major unforeseen event disrupted the regular flow of their business.

We’ve been talking about the benefits of digital transformation for awhile now, and being able to run your business remotely is certainly one of those benefits, but people weren’t making that connection until now. The time has come.

The Cloud: No Longer a Pie-In-the-Sky Idea

Many tech companies out there had been speaking about the concept of digital transformation in such nebulous terms that ordinary, non-techy business people had a hard time understanding what it really was. It’s been so bad that it brings to mind that scene in The Wolf of Wall Street where Matthew McConaughey tries to explain how the stock market works.

Well, I think people are starting to get a clearer idea now. If nothing else, this pandemic has taught everyone the importance of having a business continuity plan…and SMB leaders especially are starting to get that digital transformation is a big part of any well-conceived business continuity plan. The capability has gone from being a nice-to-have to a must-have for most American organizations with an office and a desire to keep things running, despite world events.

Over the coming months, Imaging Office Systems will be launching its new digital transformation platform. (We have a proper name for it…but we’re waiting on the final OK.)

We’re already working to implement the system with a few of our customers. It’s a cloud-based IT infrastructure that’s designed to form around the precise architecture of a company’s unique business processes and digitally transform them into a decentralized workforce capable of operating from anywhere in the world.

Here are some of the other things it can help organizations do:

  • Become fully paperless or near-paperless with cloud technology and enterprise scanning services that help you get work done faster!
  • Establish secure telepresent remote team collaboration.
  • Distribute important information and documents automatically.
  • Capture digital or paper-based info wherever it resides within your IT environment and automatically route it wherever it needs to go.
  • Using AI/machine learning capabilities, automate menial or repetitive business processes—which will allow your people to focus on more important tasks.
  • Integrate data more effectively into your decision-making processes.

Our digital transformation platform is software maker-agnostic—meaning we’re not beholden to any particular solution maker like Microsoft or Oracle, for instance. It is not a reseller scheme, nor is it any sort of pre-fabricated solution process. It’s a human- and business process-centered design process that starts with discovery of a company’s challenges and ends with implementing and supporting software and cloud services that solve those challenges.

We want to figure out the best solution for you, and it doesn’t matter where it comes from! Sometimes it will mean implementing third-party software, and sometimes we’ll use our own homegrown software solutions to accomplish your goals.

According to Global Workplace Analytics, fifty-six percent of the American workforce, or 75 million Americans, already have jobs that are at least partially compatible with remote working. However, we can’t yet say the same about companies as a whole.

We’re going to be changing that in the months and years ahead, and we hope you give us the opportunity to demonstrate our continuity-friendly approach to digital transformation.
